Custom Crates and Pallets
Wood Packaging
Heavy, fragile, or unusually shaped products need packaging planned around their weight, handling, and journey. At Protective Packaging Inc., we help develop custom wooden crates, pallets, skids, and bases for shipping and handling.
Whether you need an enclosed crate or a base that supports forklift access, we’ll review the product and shipping requirements with you before defining the packaging.
Crating for Demanding Shipments
We design wooden shipping crates for heavy, high-value, fragile, and irregularly shaped products. Crate configuration can account for air, ocean, truck, or rail transport, along with how your team will load, access, and handle the contents.
Options include reusable construction, ISPM-15-compliant heat-treated wood packaging, and custom labeling or stenciling from your supplied drawings, designs, logos, or artwork.
If product fragility is an issue, foam cushioning could be added to the crate.
Product Protection
Plan the crate around the product’s handling needs and exposure to shock and vibration.
Access and Hardware
Specify hinged or removable tops, swinging doors, locks, raised feet, or platforms.
Forklift Access
Plan two-way or four-way entry around loading and handling requirements.
Reuse Requirements
Discuss how the crate will be opened, repacked, and used again.
Pallets and Skids Sized for Your Load
We provide custom pallets, skids, and wood bases with dimensions matched to the product. Common pallet sizes include 48 × 40, 48 × 48, 44 × 44, and 48 × 42 inches, with other dimensions available to suit the application.
Two-way or four-way forklift access can be incorporated into the configuration. Heat-treated wood pallets are available for international shipping. Share the destination and shipment requirements so we can review the appropriate option with you.
Start With the Product and the Journey
Tell us the product dimensions and weight, shipping method, destination, and how it will be loaded and unloaded. We’ll help review the crate or base design, access points, hardware, and labeling requirements.
If the packaging will be reused or reordered, include that in the brief. Those details help us plan a configuration that works for your team’s packing and handling routine.
